Job Summary:

The Division of Nephrology has an opening for an academic clinician. The incumbent will have clinical, teaching and research responsibilities. Interest in the area of health care disparities and social determinants of health in persons with kidney disease is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Clinical responsibilities (70-75%), with coverage of Nephrology Division hospital services and at least two half-day clinics per week at UW Health approved locations.

Academic responsibilities (20-30%), include teaching learners in some or all of the Department of Medicine, Nephrology Division continuing professional education, fellowship program activities, internal medicine residency experiences in nephrology, and medical school courses and clinical experiences. Research responsibilities will include engaging in active collaborative clinical research on multi-disciplinary projects and will be encouraged to obtain extramural funding.

Appointment at the associate professor rank may include leadership participation at the Division and/or department level.

The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service appropriate to the faculty rank.

Candidates must meet the criteria for rank and track as per UW Clinical Health Sciences guidelines.

Education:

Required
Terminal Degree
MD, DO or equivalent

Qualifications:

Strong written and verbal communication skills, evidence of excellence in nephrology clinical practice and teaching, commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and academic interest in health care disparities and/or social determinants of health in persons with kidney disease with prior publications in peer-reviewed journals preferred.

License/Certification:

Required

Eligible for Wisconsin Medical license

Required

Board Certified/Board Eligible in Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine

Work Type:

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Having two position vacancy listings allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider candidates with both tenure-track faculty credentials and non-tenure-track faculty credentials for this position.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.

The department will not be able to support a request for a J-1 waiver.
