Overview

Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) seeks a Communications Manager. Reporting to the Director of Communications and working closely with the Associate Dean of Communications and Public Affairs, the Communications Manager is responsible for planning and implementing high-quality, innovative strategic communications in support of the SPIA.



Responsibilities

The Communications Manager will be an eager and energetic self-starter who will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities:

Strategic Communications

-Draft talking points, blogs, e-newsletters, scripts, briefings, and related documents, ensuring content and brand alignment; serve as a key point person for managing the department’s editorial calendar.

-Develops internal and external messages that are built upon a strong understanding of institutional priorities

- Collaborates with internal and external partners to help ensure consistency and alignment with School and University messaging, brand, core values and schoolwide priorities.

Social Media Management

-Devises and managed a comprehensive strategy for all of SPIA's social media and digital content, posts and platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. YouTube and LinkedIn.

-Develops, manages, and executes a digital strategy that elevates the social media profile of the Dean to elevate her as a thought leader and highlights the School’s key priorities, and strategic initiatives

-Evaluate the effectiveness of social media and digital engagement; assist with creation of analytics reports to monitor the effectiveness and reach of the online media. Sets KPI’s (key performance indicators) for evaluating the effectiveness of social media content and engagement.

-Works with campus partners on targeted social media campaigns and creatively utilize digital and social media strategy to promote faculty research, SPIA initiatives and events.

- Collaborates as needed with the University's Office of Communications on social media efforts.

- Represents SPIA on various campus-wide communications committees and working groups.



Qualifications

Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field

- At least 5-7 years of experience in strategic communications, digital marketing, social media, strategic planning, and project management

- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills

- Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills

- Proven expertise in copywriting, copyediting, and AP Style

- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, content management systems (Drupal), digital marketing tools (Mailchimp), project management tools (Monday.com), and popular social media platforms and tool (SproutSocial)

.-Candidate should be adept at digital trends, particularly those impacting higher education, and be able to make recommendations for strengthening the School's digital and online presence and social media engagement.

- Ability to relationship-build across all levels of the School; have a collegial positive attitude, ability to set/adhere to key project deadlines, be proactive and collaborative

Additional Qualifications:

- Master's degree preferred

-Strong writing background (writing sample submission encouraged)

- Demonstrated advanced digital/technical expertise

- Ability to create persuasive, data-driven presentations, including data visualization skills

- Understanding of or appreciation for current and emerging state and federal public policy issues and international/global affairs
