Overview
The Production Stage Manager for Dance is an integral part of the Production Staff. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Stage Manager for Dance is responsible for all Dance Program productions and is part of the larger Production team which includes a Production Manager, Production Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Costume Shop Manager, Technical Director, Lighting and Stage Supervisor, Sound Supervisor and full shop staffs. The Production Stage Manager for Dance provides Production Stage Management for all Dance Program productions including the fall Princeton Dance Festival and spring Dance Thesis Productions as well as other potential presentations and showings. They will organize and support events rhoughout the season, find student run crew as needed, supervise additional stage managers and assistant stage managers. This is a full time, 10-month position.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Production Stage Manager for Princeton Dance Festival,
Student Dance Thesis and all student thesis productions in the
Dance Program.
- Serve as Stage Manager for 3 - 4 productions/year
- Run technical and dress rehearsals
- Supervise additional Stage Managers, Assistant Stage Managers and casual hires as needed
- Recruit, train and supervise student run crew as needed.
- Work with the Production Manager and the Program Associate in Dance to schedule all Dance spaces and to maintain an accurate calendar.
- Prepare rehearsal spaces by taping out scenic ground plans and/or stage dimensions as needed; work with Dance Faculty to support dance classes as needed.
- Work closely with faculty, staff, guest artists and students to maintain the high standards that the Lewis Center for the Arts is known for throughout the community; Enforce safe work practices, ensuring a safe working environment for all.
Qualifications
- Proven supervisory skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, team player, collaboration skills, problem solving skills and a good sense of humor.
- Ability to focus on multiple projects and details, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to make thoughtful and timely decisions responding to shifting priorities as they arise.
- High level of self-motivation, organized and detail oriented; demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse clientele.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Drive and some knowledge of QLab.
- Ability to work a schedule that varies from week to week and includes nights and weekends on a regular basis.
