The Sharjah Education Academy (SEA) seeks an innovative full-time faculty member in education, who is able to contribute to the development of the Academy and its graduate programs in education. The successful candidate will engage in teaching, research, and program development, and will collaborate with educational and community stakeholders e.g. schools; governmental entities, to serve the dynamic educational sector in the UAE.  

The Academy seeks candidates with expertise in teacher education, with proven track record in effective teaching and research. Participants must be prepared to mentor, advise, supervise, and coach postgraduate student teachers for their future careers in education.  The Academy also seeks candidates that are fluent and have taught in both English and Arabic.

Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Assume an active role in the Academy’s development engage in community service, course materials development  Teach graduate-level courses across numerous areas in K-12 education, model best pedagogical practices, and provide highly engaging, active learning environment.  Teach and contribute to the design of face-to-face, and online in synchronous and asynchronous modality.   Work with program chairs to curriculum development of new and existing academic programs including designing assessments for student learning outcomes 

 Requirements: 

  • An earned doctorate (PhD/EdD) in education from an internationally accredited university;  Educational Psychology or Early Childhood specializations preferred  Experience in teacher education and PreK-12 educational system including supervising student teachers.   Experience in teaching and delivering courses via a LMS platform  Proactive in conducting and publishing research, and engaging in collaborative research initiatives and conferences  Preferred experience working in the Middle East Preferred fluency in both Arabic and English

Sharjah Education Academy(SEA) is a newly founded academic institution located in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates who seeks to drive improvement in education through three core streams

(1) graduate degree bearing programs in education;

(2) professional development for teachers and leaders within education;

(3) and research to support the development of individuals and education systems. Since its launch in 2020, SEA has had over 100,000 participants join the professional development experiences. Currently, SEA is  building its infrastructure to launch its research stream along with a supporting think tank, as well as preparing for future development of Master’s and PhD programs in education.

Title: Assistant Professor, Educational Leadership

Job Summary: The Sharjah Education Academy is seeking a faculty member in Educational Leadership (Assistant Professor or open rank). In this position, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education in Sharjah and the region. Your expertise and leadership will contribute to the development and implementation of cutting-edge educational practices and policies, ensuring the growth and success of school leadership as a profession across the United Arab Emirates.

Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching and Curriculum Development: Develop and deliver high-quality courses and curriculum in educational leadership at postgraduate level. Foster critical thinking, innovation, and practical skills in students pursuing careers in education and educational leadership. Research and Scholarship: Conduct original and impactful research in educational leadership, with a focus on the local and regional context. Publish research findings in reputable journals, present at conferences, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field. Mentoring and Advising: Provide guidance, mentorship, and academic advising to students. Program Development: Contribute to the development and enhancement of educational leadership programs within the institution. Collaborate with faculty and administrators to design and update curriculum, ensuring alignment with best practices and current educational trends. Leadership and Administration: Demonstrate leadership within the institution by participating in committees, engaging in academic governance, and contributing to strategic planning initiatives. Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to educational leadership programs. Community Engagement: Engage with local educational organizations, governmental bodies, and community stakeholders to build partnerships and foster collaboration. Contribute to the advancement of educational leadership practices in the United Arab Emirates through workshops, seminars, and consulting activities. Professional Development: Continuously update knowledge and skills through participation in professional development activities. Stay abreast of advancements in educational leadership theories, methodologies, and technologies.

Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) in educational leadership or a closely related field. A strong record of teaching, research, and scholarly publications in educational leadership or related areas. Demonstrated expertise in educational leadership theories, models, and practices. Experience in curriculum development and program design in the field of educational leadership. Prior experience mentoring and advising students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Strong leadership and administrative skills, with a proven ability to contribute to institutional initiatives. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential; proficiency in Arabic is desirable.
