Job Summary
We are looking for a Part-Time, Temporary Register Dietitian to join the Center for Health Promotion and Wellness at Simmons University. Reporting to the Director of Health Promotion and Wellness, the Registered Dietitian provide Nutritional Counseling to Simmons University Students. The registered dietitian develops and provides educational and consultant services to students in nutrition, diet, and food choices via 1:1 nutrition counseling. The dietitian collaborates with Health Center and Counseling staff on mutual clients.
The Center for Health Promotion and Wellness at Simmons is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the health of the student body through comprehensive and accessible primary health care. We endeavor to support students in the pursuit of their academic and personal growth through promotion of healthy behaviors and lifestyle choices.
Position Information:
- Hours: 14 hours/week;
- Meets with students will take place during Health Center
business hours (9AM-4:30PM, Monday through Friday) and primarily in
person;
- Reports to: Director of Health Promotion and
Wellness;
- Collaborate with other departments on campus to support
students.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year
college or university in a program approved and accredited by the
Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics accredited
pre-professional experience program, as well as sufficient
experience to perform assigned job duties.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles of nutrition and dietary
needs.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations
pertaining to the field including those regarding patient
confidentiality.
- Working knowledge of nutritional care for specific medical
conditions.
- Experience or interest in working with clients with eating
disorders
- General knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, and
channels of nutrition education and public information.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
Ability to assess needs and evaluate the effectiveness of diet and
nutrition programs and materials.
- Ability to promote, organize, and conduct public meetings on
nutrition.
- Ability to prepare, select, assemble, evaluate, and distribute
nutrition education material such as pamphlets, reports, bulletins,
exhibits, posters, films, and news releases.
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
- Ability to work effectively in collaborative health care teams
to address specific diet and nutrition needs.
- Ability to keep current with developments in health care
related to nutrition.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with other health center staff, representatives, and
community groups. Ability to be sensitive to and communicate
effectively with diverse members of the campus
community.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a college campus health center,
counseling center, or health education and promotion
department
License/ Certification
- Possession and maintenance of certification as a Registered
Dietitian as defined by the Commission on Dietetic
Registration.
