About the Opportunity

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Director of Building Services, the Building Services Supervisor will work to ensure a clean and safe working environment for the university community. To inspect all areas including classrooms and to train physical plant services personnel on all aspects of their duties. Inspect the performance of all personnel of their daily routines. Conduct formal written inspection reports in order to measure the manner and progress of the department such as equipment, chemicals, supplies and all other materials used in the performance of services. Respond to customer concerns, via phone, electronic mail, and in person. Perform administrative duties as required including, but not exclusively, employee attendance records, coordinate special cleaning requests and involved with all training materials and programming. Review and monitor tasks and frequencies of contract cleaning vendors to ensure compliance under Building Services guidelines. Review, inspect and report on all classrooms, as well as areas in which special events (such as open houses, dedications, and commencements) will be taking place, reports will be completed on a daily basis. Input work requests for Services and Trades as needed throughout inspections. Follow protocol and take the appropriate actions and notify the appropriate administrators and personnel in an emergency situation to ensure the health and safety of the university community including but not limited to floods, fires, snow and ice. Responsible for the daily inspection and yearly maintenance of all classroom space with regards to supplies, furniture, window treatments, AV equipment, projection screens, carpeting/ tile, and ceiling and light fixtures, etc.

Qualifications:

Five years or more of supervisory experience preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to direct and motivate others. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to meet all of the above departmental needs and goals. Must be able to work overtime when required. Must have proven ability to interact with all levels of administrative personnel. Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver's license and pass the university physical exam. This position requires a criminal background check. Building Service Supervisor position is considered Essential Personnel. This is a condition of employment. All University staff members must successfully complete a 90 day probationary period.

*40-hour work week - Hours:

Tuesday - Saturday, 9:30PM - 6AM
