Malcolm X College is currently seeking an Emergency Management Programming Instructor to join the Continuing Education team!

Continuing Education non-credit courses are available for students seeking occupational skills or personal enrichment. If you have passion for teaching and learning, consider joining our team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Form a strong partnership with Chicago’s OEMC’s (Office of Emergency Management and Communication) Training Division to assess needs and opportunities for Community and Continuing Education course development.
  • Deliver a thoughtful curriculum that includes clear course objectives and student learning outcomes aligned with OEMC’s Training Division and Malcolm X College’s Community and Continuing Education standards.
  • Produce a framework of evaluation and assessment strategies for course.
  • In collaboration with Dean and OEMC, develop course schedule and brainstorm marketing opportunities
  • Instruct or co-instruct the course at Malcolm X College, using different methods and teaching styles, including simulation, ensuring that participants are fully engaged.
  • Inspire, motivate, and foster confidence in all students.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Emergency Management experience required; Current OEMC employment preferred
  • Teaching or training experience highly preferred
  • Curriculum development experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to speak in front of an audience comfortably and with confidence
  • Ability to work as a team and independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to develop, prepare and present information.
  • Must be able to work in a multicultural environment and embrace our vision and mission.
