Job Description Summary:

To coordinate the planning, implementation, and delivery of programming, services, and events that increase the accessibility of financial aid. Reliable transportation for local area travel is required as this position requires local travel within the ACC District. Occasional evenings, and occasional Saturdays required.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks
  • Represents ACC and the Financial Aid Office to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identifies beneficial partnerships and collaborations with internal departments and community partners that increase student access to and utilization of financial aid, scholarships, and veteran benefits, including maintaining partnerships with local high schools.
  • Coordinates internal and external outreach events including planning, staffing, monitoring, and communications with internal departments; works collaboratively with the Student Affairs Communications and College Marketing Offices to ensure effective communication and marketing strategies are implemented for events.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates proactive intervention, retention, and support activities for financial aid students, veterans, and additional priority populations; provides measurable outcomes regarding the outreach with the intent to assist in student retention.
  • Assists in the creation and dissemination of outreach materials, including educational materials and event promotion materials.
  • Recognizes emerging trends in enrollment and FAFSA submissions and adjusts outreach strategies appropriately.
  • Coordinates special initiatives and programs as assigned by the Manager that increase students’ understanding of, access to, and utilization of financial aid at ACC such as Financial Aid Month; assists in developing marketing and communication program materials.
  • Tracks and analyzes data and creates regular reports that document outcomes of financial aid outreach, and related student success rates.
  • Provides financial aid information to students regarding programs, application procedures, availability of funds, procedures for applying, disbursement of funds and scholarship resources; provides technical support to students by assisting them with setting up FSA ID, submitting FAFSA, accessing ACC portals and requesting tax transcripts.
  • Assists in reviewing student financial aid applications and determining eligibility based on federal and state regulations; communicates with students regarding incomplete financial aid files and assists students with submission of missing documentation and forms.
  • Provides ongoing quality communication, effective customer service, and advising support to students by using consistent, effective outreach and follow-up contacts including in-person activities, phone calls, and digital communication; documents and tracks contact data into computer systems ensuring compliance with any regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in institutional committees and training related to student success and retention goals that enhance opportunities for ACC students.
  • May supervise hourly employees.

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Determining individual benefit eligibility.
  • Ability to multi-task and/or lead projects to ensure they are completed within timeframe and budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with both internal and external groups with a cultural, racial and ethnically diverse background.
Technology Skills
  • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word-processing, database and presentation software.
  • Use student information and database systems.
  • May also use social media, work with desktop publishing and update program webpage.
Required Work Experience
  • Two years related work experience.
Preferred Work Experience
  • Experience working with students and parents who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Work is performed in a standard office or similar setting.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
