Job Description:
The primary role of the technician is to support the hospital by assisting services in the Cath lab and ensure the room is in working order. The individual will assist with surgical procedures as needed and ensure all tasks are completed for cases. When there are no Cath lab cases, the individual will assist the OR's with cases. They will assist other services to ensure cases are on time and the schedule is not delayed. The person also will bring in the area a positive “can do” attitude and help all areas to ensure the cases are complete in a timely fashion. The expectation is that the individual will communicate effectively with services to determine needs and priorities for the day, display a positive and proactive attitude while also knowing when to ask for help or guidance when needed. Patients should be handled compassionately with the goal to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress during their visit.
Examples of this include but not limited to the following:
- Assist with radiography and fluoroscopy for OR and Cath Lab
procedures
- Assist with all Cath lab procedures during regular business
hours
- Assist with Cath lab inventory
- Safely administer sedation as needed following protocols and
veterinarian's orders while continuing to monitor patients while
under your care.
- Able to provide appropriate and safe monitoring to a patient
under sedation
- Maintain yearly training in CPR
- Demonstrate the knowledge and use of ALARA in regards to
radiation safety.
- Able to proficiently obtain acceptable images
- Documenting in electronic medical records
- Reviewing and entering patient charges appropriately
- Performs surgical nursing care functions on patients such as
surgical preparation, aseptic technique, and pre-surgical
treatments.
- Ensure patents are prepped in a timely fashion to keep the
schedule on time.
- Assembles surgical supplies and equipment needed for surgical
procedures.
- Prepares surgical instrument table.
- Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations
which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
- Assist anesthesia and services by properly restraining
patients, setting up or breaking down equipment or supplies, or
assisting in transporting patients throughout hospital.
- Properly package and wrap instruments in accordance with
hospital specifications
- Ensure charges are entered at point of care and are
accurate
- Prepare and submit samples for diagnostics
Expected Salary:
$18 to $25 per hour, salary based on credentials and experience.
Minimum Requirements:
Veterinary Technician I:
High school diploma or equivalent and one year relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Veterinary Technician II:
Credentialed veterinary technician.
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited American Veterinary Medical Association program for Veterinary Technology OR American Registered Radiologic Technologist.
Credentialed Veterinary Technician OR
Registered Radiological Technologist
