Position Description

THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI
( http://www.olemiss.edu/depts/psychology ) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month appointment at the Instructional Assistant Professor rank. The anticipated appointment date is August 17, 2023. This is a non-tenure track position with a promotional ladder leading to the ranks of Instructional Associate Professor and Instructional Professor. This position has both teaching and service expectations (80%/20%). The standard teaching load is four courses each regular semester. Expected service activities may include serving on student thesis and dissertation committees, membership on committees at the department, college, and university level, and other similar duties. Although the position is primarily focused on teaching, continued engagement in research (including but not limited to the scholarship of teaching and learning) is encouraged.

The candidate filling this position will be asked to teach a variety of undergraduate courses as needed by the department, including but not limited to Introduction to Psychology, Brain and Behavior, Drugs and Behavior, Environmental Psychology, and graduate Level Psychophysiology. Courses will be taught in Oxford with some courses also offered in a synchronous remote distance learning option for regional campuses. Course assignments will be made by the Director of Undergraduate Studies in consultation with the faculty member. Candidate experience preferences include a demonstrated ability to
successfully teach a range of class sizes and levels from undergraduate to graduate level, especially experience teaching courses that meet the department’s need to offer the classes listed above.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in psychology earned no later than August 2023 is required.
Demonstrated effectiveness in undergraduate teaching is required.
