VISITING ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

Scope
The Computer Science Department at Manhattan College seeks a committed teacher-scholar for a full-time position at the Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor rank, for the Spring 2023 semester. The initial contract term is for one semester, beginning January 2023, with the possibility of renewal contingent to funding. The visiting faculty regular teaching load is 21 credits per year. We expect a hired candidate to teach 15 credits in Spring 2021. A teaching assignment for each semester may include multiple sections of the same course.
The department offers B.S. and B.A. degrees in Computer Science and M.S. degree in Computer Science.
Responsibilities
The candidate is expected to teach core computer science undergraduate courses including C++ based programming courses, Discrete Structures, Java Programming, Excel-based course on statistical analysis for non-majors, C++ based Data Structures and Algorithms.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or related area. An ABD candidate may be considered if Ph.D. is earned prior to start date of the employment in January 2023.
Candidates will be evaluated on their academic background, communication skills, potential for excellence in teaching, scholarly activity, potential for service to the college, and ability to bring new ideas to the computer science program. Teaching experience is strongly preferred.
