Visiting Assistant Professor, Japanese Studies, Middlebury College

The Department of Japanese Studies at Middlebury College invites applications for a one-year position beginning Fall 2023. Compensation includes competitive salary, health insurance, and research funding. The ideal candidate will have finished or be near completion of the Ph.D. in Japanese Studies, discipline open. Applicants should have native or near-native command of Japanese and should have at least one year of language teaching experience. Applicants should be interested in working in a collaborative environment, with the possibility of co-teaching, in a residential liberal arts college setting. Candidates will show evidence and/or promise of excellence in teaching students from diverse backgrounds and have an active research agenda. Teaching responsibilities will include a combination of language courses and content courses in area of specialization taught in English. The teaching load is 2-1-2. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach at all language levels.
