Plans, directs and administers the Grants Program for the College. Develops and executes all grant project proposals, oversees program implementation, and monitors funded activities in support of maximizing outcomes and promoting grant regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Provides strategic leadership and direction of the College’s grant program, ensures timely, relevant, and effective development and submission of grants proposals, promotes best practice agenda for data accuracy and continuous improvement in processes and services.
  2. Actively participates in assessment activities, serves on key strategic committees to advance best practice and readiness for assessment visits, and engages in regulatory compliance and oversight for all grants, ensuring effective management and use of funds.
  3. Promotes and pursues relevant professional development for the grants department and key college stakeholders, develops professional relationships with relevant constituents, including representatives from NJ community colleges, state, federal, and private entities.
  4. Leads from a student-centric perspective that aligns departmental plans and outcomes with the College’s strategic goals and objectives.
  5. Sets annual departmental goals and assessment metrics to secure and increase grant income in excess of the cost of operating costs of the Grants Office to maximize outcomes for students, and the institution.
  6. Oversees the performance of all direct reports, including the day-to-day performance, disciplinary action, conducts written and verbal performance appraisal, time and attendance approvals, and staff compliance with HR policies and procedures.
  7. Partners with faculty and administrators to assess College needs, generate innovative concepts, develop and submit related grant proposals, collects supporting data, and recommends potential funding sources.
  8. Provides full-spectrum grants assistance to faculty and staff in planning, writing, program design, budget development, evaluation, funding agency compliance, and implementation.
  9. Administers the submission and execution of project proposals, adheres to agency and/or foundation submission requirements, and performs comprehensive and proactive follow up to improve readiness for grant approval.
  10. Oversees the evaluation of grant activity outcomes, creation of progress and financial reports, and claim disposition for funding.
  11. Promotes a culture of presentation and information sharing to increase college-wide knowledge of grants and services, and disseminates related project information as appropriate to a broad cross section of stakeholders, including external agencies and institutions.
  12. Performs additional tasks or duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or designee.


Qualifications:

Education: Master’s Degree required ; additional related certifications preferred; terminal degree a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progress leadership experience in preparing and managing grant proposals and programs. Possesses track record of successfully securing Federal, State, and grant and foundation funding. Experience with a higher education institution, particularly a community college, would be preferred.

Demonstrates understanding of the community college mission, collaborates effectively with peers and other stakeholders, has the ability to effectively communicate and influence internal and external stakeholders, and has basic proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite.
