Position Summary
The Department of Media Study at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York is hiring an Assistant Teaching Professor (official state title: Clinical Assistant Professor) in Film and Media Studies. We seek candidates with expertise in film studies (especially film of the global south) and media studies. Additional experience teaching film/video or digital media production is desirable.
The Assistant Teaching Professor will teach three courses per semester. These are full-time, non-tenure-track faculty positions with an academic-year (10-month) obligation. The initial appointment is a three-year contract with possibility of future renewal, contingent upon performance, department need, and availability of program funding.
As artists and scholars, Media Study faculty pursue varied and interdisciplinary methods: historical, theoretical, experimental, practice-led and practice-based. We are seeking applicants who can contribute to our community that works at the intersection of theory, research, and media production by specializing in one or more of these areas.
The Department of Media Study has undergraduate BA programs in media production and studies, a Game Studies Certificate program, and graduate programs at the MAH, MS, MFA, and PhD levels.
