Description

The Graduate Coordinator of Clinical Education (GCCE) is a 12-month administrative remote position in the University's Masters Nursing program with the potential for faculty rank. The GCCE supports the online Graduate Nursing Program with primary responsibilities of helping students obtain clinical placements in regional/national locations as well as overseeing student licensure and clinical site requirements. The GCCE will work with graduate faculty to ensure appropriate clinical placements throughout students' educational experience and is responsible for acquiring, monitoring, collecting, and collating documentation of all student clinical experiences. Specifically, the GCCE will support graduate students with clinical questions, placements, schedules, documentation, and appropriate clinical settings to meet program outcomes. The GCCE is responsible for all functions related to the clinical education portions of the graduate nursing program and may have some teaching responsibilities, where appropriate, in areas of expertise or alignment with credentials. An annual performance evaluation will be conducted for professional development and setting goals, including any teaching assignments, in alignment with the role and this will be conducted and reviewed by the Director of Graduate Nursing. May be requested to travel to Bangor Campus 1-2x per year for professional development/training as needed.

Examples of Duties

* Maintain relationships with clinical sites for the online graduate nursing programs

* Guide, support, and coordinate student placements and work with Director of Graduate Nursing to ensure program experiential outcomes are being achieved.

* Identify placements that will maximize students' practicum experiences.

* Facilitate quality learning experiences for students during clinical education..

* Select clinical learning environments that demonstrate characteristics of sound patient/client management, ethical and professional behavior, and currency with nursing

practice.

* Work with students, Director and administrative assistant(s) to ensure that all pre-clinical requirements are met by students in a timely manner, including: immunizations,

CPR, background check, facility paperwork, name tag, and any other site-specific requirements.

* Educate/support students, preceptors, and academic faculty about clinical education and assist in the orientation and guidance regarding software training and

verification.

* Perform site visits, both virtual and in-person (when applicable), to observe preceptors/site to assist in relationship building and evaluations.

* Work with Director and administrative assistant for practice experiences to provide criterion, guidelines, and course materials prior to the start of the semester.

* Attend training sessions and meetings and collaborate with the administrative assistant in maintenance of the Centralized Clinical Placement System and other

Experiential/Clinical Learning Management Systems (e.g., CORE ELMS, Exxat, etc.)

* Manage the applicable database(s) listed above to assist lead faculty in tracking internship/clinical experiences.

* Foster positive relationships with each clinical site and share feedback received from the clinical site with appropriate faculty members.

* Participate in required meetings and committees of the SON.

* Work collaboratively with Director of Graduate Nursing and the Division of Distance and Online Education (DODE) to ensure compliance with applicable rules and

regulations, including NONPF standards and and CCNE requirements for clinical placements.

* Develop, monitor, and refine the clinical education component of the curriculum in conjunction with SON faculty and Director.

* Evaluate students' performance, in cooperation with faculty and preceptors, to determine their ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning experiences and to progress within the curriculum.

* Maximize available resources for the clinical education program.

* Actively engage faculty in clinical education planning, implementation, and assessment.

* Approve graduate sites and preceptors each term.

The GCCE will work collaboratively with the Division of Online and Distance Education (DODE) and will be responsible for maintaining communication and reporting of key metrics to a variety of key constituents.

Additional Responsibilities:

* Gathering data and preparing detailed documents

* Representing the graduate nursing program off campus when appropriate

* Serving on or chairing committees, as appropriate

* Handling budget-related tasks as directed by the Dean

* Performing other duties as assigned by the administration

Typical Qualifications

Typical Qualifications-

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

* Graduate degree (Master required/Doctorate preferred) in a health-related field or healthcare administration (e.g., MBA, MPH, MBA with HC Administration, DNP, PhD, etc.)

or enrolled in such program with an executed plan for completion.

* Active unencumbered, unrestricted Registered Nurse license, in good standing with the state board of nursing, required. Multistate Compact License preferred.

* Two or more years of experience as a registered nurse, two (2) years of documented experience as a nursing instructor in a program leading to a baccalaureate degree or

higher preferred.

* Knowledge of curriculum design, program administration, evaluation, instruction, and advising.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Familiarity with Microsoft (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Google platforms, and Learning Management Systems (such as Canvas).
