Position: Assistant Professor of Nursing (Adult-Gerontology Primary Care)
Effective Date: August 17, 2023 (Fall Semester)
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications:
  • DNP or Ph.D. in Nursing or a related field from an accredited institution. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2023.
  • Demonstrated potential for effectiveness/excellence in teaching at the college level
  • Demonstrated potential for research, scholarly and creative activities in nursing and related areas
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population
  • Valid RN license in the U.S. that is current, unrestricted, and unencumbered. Must hold California RN license by August 1, 2023

Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. degree in nursing (unless applicant is BSN to DNP or BSN to PhD prepared)
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with national certification
  • Clinical specialization and experience in adult-gerontology primary care as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Clinical work experience as a Nurse Practitioner in the clinical setting within the past five years
  • Experience successfully working with socioeconomic and demographic populations like the student body at CSULB

Duties:
  • Teach didactic and clinical courses at various levels, as appropriate, at graduate or doctoral levels. [Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.]
  • Serve as the coordinator of the clinical specialty, as appropriate
  • Participate in curriculum development, course assessment
  • Assist and participate in student recruitment and retention
  • Advise and mentor nursing student majors
  • Serve either as a member or chair of theses, directed studies, doctoral projects, and comprehensive exam committees
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical agency personnel and the School of Nursing
  • Maintain an ongoing research, scholarly and creative activities agenda leading to publications
  • Participate in faculty governance by serving at the departmental, college, university, and community activities as appropriate
