The School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a full-time tenured faculty member at the associate or full professor rank to serve as Assistant/Associate Dean for Research & Faculty Development. The successful candidate will be appointed in an administrative (12-month) capacity at 0.5 FTE, and will hold the remaining 0.5 FTE of their appointment in a 9-month faculty role as an associate or full professor. This will allow the post-holder to continue to pursue their research and teaching at a reduced scale while taking on an administrative role.

We are particularly seeking an established exceptional scholar with an active research program and a proven track record in writing, securing, administering, and disseminating grant-funded research, and especially in leading others in becoming similarly successful. The Associate Dean (or assistant dean for an associate professor appointment) will support faculty development, and will play a key role in mentoring junior faculty and helping shepherd promotion and tenure packages through the process. The Assistant/Associate Dean also meets with the Dean and other associate/assistant deans regularly to ensure the smooth functioning of the iSchool. Tenure-track and tenured faculty at the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin have a 2/1 teaching load, which will be reduced by 50% for the person in this role. Salaries are competitive.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in a field that is relevant to their area of research and teaching. Applicants should be eligible for appointment at the rank of tenured full professor.
