Key Responsibilities
The Biology Department at Juniata College, a highly ranked, national liberal arts college of 1,300 students located in the scenic Allegheny Mountains of central Pennsylvania, seeks to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position in the area of Biology, with a focus on Genetics and Bioinformatics. The Biology Department has an innovative curriculum, a strong tradition of undergraduate research and a rich history of sending students on to graduate studies and productive careers. In the last eight years, Biology Department has been awarded over 3.5 million dollars in grants to support our students and undergraduate research. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate and Master’s courses in genetics, bioinformatics, and biostatistics. Candidates will be expected to develop an externally funded research program with undergraduates. Candidates with diverse scientific backgrounds that complement and enhance existing departmental strengths are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates will be expected to collaborate with faculty in Biology and Data Science in the Bioinformatics Master’s Program. In addition, candidates are encouraged to work with Biology faculty on various departmental initiatives that include Course-based Undergraduate Research experiences and/or incorporating massively-parallel sequencing technologies into the undergraduate curriculum and research.

Position Qualifications
Earned Ph.D. (required) and post-doctoral and teaching experience (preferred).

This position reports to the Biology Department Chair.
