Assistant/Associate Professor of Counseling

The Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Counseling to begin in the Fall of 2023. Candidates must have a Ph.D., Ed.D., or Ed.S. in counseling psychology, clinical/community psychology, clinical mental health, or related field by the time of their appointment. The candidate should also have evidence of excellent teaching and scholarly productivity, experiential learning, and community/public engagement.

Coastal Carolina University is a public comprehensive liberal arts institution located in Conway, South Carolina, just nine miles from the Atlantic coastal resort city of Myrtle Beach. Coastal Carolina University enrolls over 10,000 students from 45 states and 58 nations. The University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award the baccalaureate and master’s degrees of national and/or regional significance in the arts and sciences, business, humanities, education, and health and human services, a specialist degree in instructional technology, and PhD degrees in marine science: coastal and marine systems science and education sciences.

Teaching responsibilities include:
· Time spent in the classroom and/or laboratory, preparation for each course and/or lab assigned, and preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus).
· Conducts research to create and add to knowledge in a field, including the advancement of new theories and principles to improve educational effectiveness.
· Communicating to students after reviewing written exams and papers, evaluating artistic presentations, supervising independent study projects, supervising or teaching clinical internships or programs.
· Tracking and reporting absences during the designated period as directed by the Office of the Registrar.
· Calculating and assigning grades (midterm and final) through established procedures listed in the Faculty Manual and University Catalog.
· Engages in University-related activities including committee assignments, meetings and scholarly pursuits as prescribed in the Faculty Manual.
· Posting and holding of office hours per College guidelines. Faculty members are expected to hold regular office hours in accordance with their discipline’s college guidelines.
· Performs other departmental needs as assigned.

Required Qualifications:



Ph.D., Ed.D., or Ed.S. in counseling psychology, clinical/community psychology, clinical mental health, or related field.
