Assistant Professor of Theatre
ABOUT THIS POSITION
Summary: The Assistant Professor of Theatre's essential duties and responsibilities include teaching a standard course load of both upper and lower-division theatre classes in a Stanislavski-based BFA Acting/Directing program, advising performance majors, and directing one production per academic year.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded theatre generalist with a strong teaching, directing, and performance background who brings new expertise to the department. Areas of particular interest include Improvisation, Devised Theatre, Music Theatre, and Gender Studies. A passion for teaching academic classes (such as Theatre History and Dramatic Literature) is necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester;
courses may be assigned as in-person, online, or hybrid delivery
modalities. Scholarship in the discipline, advising, recruitment,
and service to the department and profession are
expected
- Utilize D2L for course syllabus and grade book
- Prepare and grade assignments, assessments
- Advising for BA Theatre majors and minors
- Scholarship (Creative Work)
- Service to the Department and University via committee
work
Required Qualifications: - M.F.A. in Theatre, Acting or Directing. The degree must be from
an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching, teamwork, and collegial
problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications: - Three years' experience in college-level teaching.
