The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University is seeking an individual(s) to teach TRF 210 Foundational Skills in Production in the Spring 2023 semester (3 1 credit modules per time slot).

Two sets of modules being offered: First is Mondays and Wednesdays 5:15-6:35pm and the second is Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:00-6:20 pm.

Description: TRF 210 is a series of three 1-credit introductory-level workshops with attention to three different areas of production skill: Cinematography, Sound Acquisition and Editing and Picture Editing. Qualifications
Master’s degree is preferred. Preference is given to applicants with previous experience teaching at the university level. Job Specific Qualifications
Significant experience in cinematography, sound, and editing. Responsibilities
It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:
• Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
• Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
• Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
• Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
• Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
• Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
• Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
• Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
• Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations. Physical Requirements
• Ability to instruct the class in the assigned classroom on the days it is designated to meet.
• Ability to hold office hours on campus.
• Ability to grade all assignments and examinations Tools/Equipment
