The Community College of Baltimore County is seeking an individual to prepare and teach courses in the Music Program, including courses in Applied Music and Music Production and Audio Recording Technology. Full-time faculty are required to teach 15 credit hours per semester, maintain at least one office hour per week for each course taught, remain active and current in their field, participate in college committees, and perform other duties as assigned. Additionally, full-time faculty are required to participate with program faculty in developing, evaluating, and managing courses and curricula, to collaborate effectively with discipline colleagues and with those from other disciplines, and to seek continuous improvement in teaching methodology and student success.

CCBC is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.

Minimum Requirements

Master’s degree in Music or related field with 18-graduate level credits in music with specialty in instrumental music and audio technology. Woodwind, brass, or percussion primary instrument; and experience directing instrumental ensembles, with large ensemble conducting preferred. Background in Music Production and Audio Recording Technology. Teaching experience in applied music, music technology, and classroom settings preferred.

A minimum of two years of college-level and/or high school or community music school or studio teaching. Community College experience preferred. Evidence of excellence in musicianship and teaching; facility with music and classroom technology, administrative and/or leadership experience. Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Direct and manage an instrumental ensemble, such as the Baltimore Symphonic Band, as assigned, including any required management of facilities and equipment maintenance.
  2. Teach a full range of courses including classes in the Music Production and Audio Recording Technology certificate program, and general education music classes;
  3. Teach applied music lessons on primary instrument(s);
  4. Lead the instrumental music faculty on the Essex campus (non-keyboard/guitar);
  5. Schedule and oversee instrumental juries (non-keyboard/guitar);
  6. Teach repertoire class for all instrumental music students (non-keyboard/guitar)
  7. Play an active role in recruiting instrumental students in area high schools
  8. Prepare, teach, and evaluate courses, and participate with program faculty in the development and management of courses, curricula, and academic policy, with a focus on student-centered learning.
  9. Reassigned duties may be assigned.
  10. Keep instructional materials and student work organized and accessible.
  11. Continue to work in specialty/field.
  12. Participate in the life of the college through committee service and other activities.
  13. Full-time faculty are required to teach fifteen (15) credit hours per semester, maintain five office hours per week, and perform other duties as assigned.

Long-Term Disability

Plan pays 60% of gross monthly salary after 90 consecutive days of absence. Employee pays 100% of premium.

The Roth 403(b) savings feature allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars and then withdraw tax-free dollars from their account upon retirement. The Roth 403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors: TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature.
