Job Summary

The School of Law at the University of Colorado Boulder welcomes applications for an Information Technology Support Professional! This position works alongside members of the Law School IT team supporting faculty, staff and other members of the community on a variety of tasks including desktop hardware and software, classroom and event technology, and web projects. This position interacts with staff, faculty, and external affiliates primarily on-campus and provides a high level of customer service through timely and professional interaction, in addition to providing customer education and recommending standard processes for computer use. This position also participates in collaborative projects with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) as well as other groups on the Boulder campus and University Information Systems (UIS).

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Desktop and Device Support:
  • Provide support for Windows and Apple desktops and laptops deployed across the law school. Assist with computer maintenance and provides ongoing installations and configurations of client workstations.
  • Work alongside several teammates in a collaborative environment to diagnose, repair and support computer equipment and other peripherals in use by the Law School.
  • Ensure settings and functionality of all computer and technology installations and configurations are accurate following industry standards.
  • Deploy software according to system configurations, managing drive mappings, data security, system functionality, and configuration settings determined by organizational policies and processes for the department and OIT and UIS system staff engineers and administrators.
  • Regular contact with staff, faculty and external affiliates by phone, e-mails, office walk-ins and ticket system.
  • Collaborative with OIT and UIS in the management and utilization of campus tools.
Reports and Documentation:
  • Create and update documentation for internal and customer facing Knowledgebases, based on system changes, support requests received and new information learned from OIT and UIS.
  • Provide up-to-date written documentation for training and configurations.
  • Report progress of projects and current operations of work requests via ticketing system.
  • Monitor current automated reports of client workstation status, configurations, software installations, equipment inventories, and virus and security alerts.
  • Review processes and recommends any operational improvements to the processes.
Training & Projects:
  • Attend all professional internal and external meetings as requested by supervisor, such as law school staff meetings, OIT staff meetings, and meetings with vendors.
  • Expand technical skills and expertise by acquiring knowledge in new technologies, systems, applications, procedures, and tools and shares the knowledge with the IT Support team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Should Know

  • This person will work primarily in person. Regular work hours with some evening work at times to support events in the Law School.
What We Can Offer
  • The annual salary range is $45,000-$52,000.

What We Require
  • Bachelor's degree and one year of experience supporting technology or technology resources in an IT environment. (Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute and work experience may substitute on a year for year basis for the degree).
What You Will Need
  • Knowledge and experience working with both Microsoft Windows and Apple hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of device provisioning, system configuration, and computer security standard processes.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical people.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills and ability to handle multiple competing interests and needs simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a small office environment.

  • Ability and willingness to jump in where needed to ensure Law IT operations run smoothly and law school needs are met and, at times, be on-call.

What We Would Like You To Have
  • Bachelor's degree with course work in information systems, computer science or similar area
  • Two or more years of experience supporting technology or technology resources in an IT environment.
  • Experience working in an educational environment.
  • Knowledge and experience using software such as Microsoft Office, Zoom, web browsers and web-based tools.
  • Audio/Visual equipment experience, including microphones and video cameras.
  • Classroom support experience.
