Position Summary
POSITION : Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Nutritional Sciences (75% Teaching and 25% Administration), full-time, 12-month fiscal year appointment in the Department of Nutritional Sciences in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences https://www.fcs.uga.edu .
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :
- Teach undergraduate and graduate in-residence and online courses in clinical or community nutrition
- Direct and grow the online Master of Science program in
Community Nutrition, and provide leadership for effectively
managing all aspects of the program including:
- Lead the recruitment, evaluation, and advising efforts for the program
- Coordinate the online clinical nutrition program offerings within the Nutritional Sciences department including online course offerings
- Maintain approval for the program curriculum and oversee the online course reviews and revisions with the Office of Online Learning and Faculty
- Play an active role in student advising and the supervision of students participating in the online community nutrition MS program
- Collaborate within UGA and pivotal organizations and networks
in the discipline and build on the strengths of the program to meet
enrollment goals established by the department and college
- Contribute to activities that serve the department, college, university, the public, and the profession

About the College/Unit/Department
The College of Family and Consumer Sciences, sixth largest at UGA in terms of undergraduate enrollment, is a student-centered college that emphasizes holistic student development and inclusive perspective taking and has approximately 110 total faculty members in the College, where undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered in all areas of family and consumer sciences, as well as collaborative programs with other schools, colleges, centers and institutes at the University. FACS develops leaders who focus on the science and art of helping individuals live well in a complex society.
The Department of Nutritional Sciences is one of four departments in the College. The Department has 25 faculty including 3 tenure-track Extension Specialists, 379 undergraduate students majoring in Nutritional Sciences, Dietetics, and Culinary Science and Nutrition, and FACS Education as well as 30 graduate students in the PhD and MS thesis graduate degree programs and 40 in the non-thesis MS degree programs including the on-line MS program in Community Nutrition. The Department has strong ties and opportunities for interdisciplinary research programs with Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Animal and Dairy Sciences, Kinesiology, Pharmacy, Food Science and Technology, Public Health, Veterinary Medicine, Gerontology, Psychology, the Biomedical and Health Sciences Institute https://bhsi.uga.edu/ and others. The University of Georgia is one of four institutions of the NIH funded Georgia Clinical & Translational Alliance which leverages complementary strengths to accelerate clinical and translational research http://georgiactsa.org/ . - To be considered for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor, the applicant must hold an earned doctoral degree (upon appointment) in nutrition or a related field. The applicant must be credentialed as a registered dietitian nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetics; have a minimum of three years of professional experience post-credentialing; and have a minimum of two years’ experience with effective online pedagogy and best practices in teaching and learning.
- To be considered for the position of Clinical Associate Professor, the applicant must meet the above qualifications and attained Assistant Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor rank at a comparable university and have at least four years of relevant experience.
