MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY invites candidates to apply for a full-time faculty position as Coordinator of the Commercial Music Program and Chair of Music Industry Studies (MIS). Rank and eligibility for tenure based on credentials and experience. Terminal degree preferred; post-secondary teaching experience required. Professional experience in one or more areas associated with commercial music is expected, including but not limited to accomplishments in songwriting, arranging, performing, and/or audio production. Administrative responsibilities encompass oversight of the MIS area, comprised of commercial music and music business programs.

 

The successful candidate will:

• provide administrative oversight for entire MIS area–course scheduling, curricular development, assessment, accreditation, staffing, special events

 

• coordinate all aspects of the commercial music program in concert with music business and recording technology programs

 

• be a catalyst for self-discovery and learning through student advisement, curation of project-based work, collaboration, and professional modelling

 

• demonstrate evidence of networking, entrepreneurship, and job placement potential

 

• teach core classes in the commercial music area
