This is an Adjunct Instructor position to teach a class called, PRODUCTION ACCOUNTING 93.880.

Accounting is a foundation to many businesses’ enterprises. The Production Accountant position on a film or TV show manages the fiscal affairs and reporting of all production funds. This introductory class will cover accounting concepts and financial reporting with an emphasis to how these principals are applied in the entertainment sector by using ethical decision-making skills.

Entertainment accounting examples will be used throughout the class. Topics will include the responsibilities of those in the production office, phases of production, budgeting, payroll, cost forecasting, a typical day of a production accountant.

Objectives for the course may include:

  1. Define and explain the relationship among the basic accounting concepts of assets, liabilities, stockholder’s equity, income and expenses.
  2. Prepare basic financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flow).
  3. Explain the relationship among the financial statements.
  4. Explain the accounting equation.
  5. Record basic economic transactions for assets, liabilities, stockholder’s equity.
  6. Identify, record, and report transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  7. Learn accounting terminology, key concepts, and principles
  8. Understand how to communicate with financial professionals
  9. Apply concepts to common business scenarios
  10. Arrive at an understanding of the financial implications of business decisions
  11. Conduct various financial analyses
Qualifications

The instructor should be a practitioner or academic with direct experience or research work in the entertainment industry. Recent experience in teaching graduate or professional courses is preferred. A master’s degree is preferred but industry experience is just as important.

Strong communication skills (Speaking, Writing, Presenting) desired. A focus in the accounting/finance entertainment sector is preferred.
