The Opportunity

The College of Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona seeks a Machinist/Fabricator to instruct undergraduate engineering students on machining, welding, and sheet metal fabrication and to support student and faculty projects. The position can be full-time or part-time and may include evening hours if preferred.

Instruct undergraduate engineering students on the safe use of mills and lathes (manual and CNC), MIG and TIG welding, and sheet metal forming. Explains procedure for part setup, machine/equipment operation and capability, and basic maintenance. Assesses student understanding and achievement in accordance with agreed course procedures.

Provide machining and fabrication support to faculty and student projects.

Attends Manufacturing Review Board meetings with project teams, advising students to ensure that their designs can be cost effectively manufactured.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have advanced skills with mills and lathes (manual and CNC), be proficient with MIG and TIG welding, and have a working knowledge of basic sheet metal forming and fabrication techniques. Applicants should have at least 5 years of relevant industry experience, and they should have a strong desire to teach undergraduate engineering students.
