Job Summary:

Produce compelling and creative broadcast and digital content for PBS Wisconsin's statewide audience. Bring Wisconsin's stories to life, with content that explores the state's diverse people, places, events, and cultures. Join our award-winning team and produce projects similar to: Wisconsin From the Air, Mike Leckrone: Wisconsin's Showman, Wisconsin's Scenic Treasures, Wisconsin Hometown Stories and Nancy Zieman: Extraordinary Grace. This position reports to the Executive Producer of History and Production Services. The successful candidate will lead productions from research to field production to post-production and is a well rounded producer to lead productions through these stages of the process.

Responsibilities:

Develops and produces content and production materials in one or more areas for programming. Assists in developing, coordinating, and directing the production strategy and process.
  • 20% Researches and develops production strategy for one or more programs across broadcast and digital platforms
  • 20% Produces, develops, and edits content that may include identifying topics, themes, guests, conducting pre-interviews and/or interviews, writing, and/or integrating content for multimedia platforms
  • 20% Performs daily operational activities for live and pre-recorded content, and may direct the editorial and creative process of production activities
  • 20% Collaborates with other content creators in pre- to post-production processes, prepares materials, and handles logistics for broadcast and/or digital publications
  • 10% Maintains familiarity with studio equipment and/or applicable technology for production
  • 10% May schedule and direct operational activities for content production, including live/recorded studio or field productions

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred focus in Journalism or Communications

Qualifications:

MINIMUM YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE
-Three or more years of professional video production experience including producing or reporting, research, script writing, and field production.
-Demonstrated effective and creative use of visuals, narration, interviews, music, sound effects, and/or graphic elements to create engaging videos while also utilizing excellent editorial judgment.
-Minimum 2 years of experience managing complex video production projects with multiple interested parties and deadlines.
-Exceptional organizational skills, ability to multi-task and change focus quickly while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage and prioritize multiple communication streams.
-Strong collaboration skills. Ability to work independently, in teams, and with input from multiple interested parties
-Record of consistently meeting deadlines under pressure.
-Enthusiasm to learn and grow as a video professional; ability to take a proactive, innovative approach to projects.

NOT REQUIRED BUT DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
-Experience using Avid Media Composer, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop) or equivalent professional-grade non-linear editing software.
-Familiarity or experience with public media and its mission
-Demonstrated knowledge of the diversity of Wisconsin's state history, people and cultures
-Hands-on experience as a videographer
-Experience coaching or directing voice-over talent
-Experience creating long-form, 30 minutes or longer, videos or documentaries
-Experience conducting archival research

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
