Position Summary
New Mexico Highlands University Biology Department invites applicants passionate about student success, teaching, and student research to fill one nine-month, Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology positions beginning in August, 2023. Ideal candidate with teaching expertise and research in areas of Botany or related fields are invited to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidates for these positions are expected to teach a combination of entry-level biology courses and upper division courses within the candidate’s specialty (24 hrs/academic year); develop a focused and active research program, participate in service to the department and university, mentor students, and hold office hours.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in biological science, or related fields, with capacity to teach in the area of Botany. ABD will be considered .
Preferred Qualifications
• Post doctoral experience.
• Experience with diverse student populations or underrepresented minorities.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching and one’s own professional development including training/experience in active and cooperative learning teaching strategies.
• Demonstrate a research focus that complements existing research programs at Highlands.
• Success or potential to gain external funding for a focused research program.
