Research Assistant Professor (Ref: 2201280) 
Department of Special Education and Counselling 
Faculty of Education and Human Development  

 

Departments in the Faculty of Education and Human Development (FEHD) are seeking to appoint Research Assistant Professors whose expertise is aligned to one or more of the FEHD strategic research themes, with particular reference to: 

 

1) Capacity building for the education workforce 
2) Parent and community engagement in education 
3) Equity, ethics and inclusion 
4) Child/youth mental health and wellbeing 

 

The Department of Special Education and Counselling is aiming to recruit candidates with expertise of particular relevance to themes 3 and 4 above. The appointee will be expected to contribute to the profile of the Department, Faculty and University by advancing scholarship in either/both of these strategic research themes.  

Responsibilities include: (i) conducting research, independently and within collaborative teams at Department and Faculty level; (ii) initiating and leading research projects, including securing external research grants (e.g., ECS/GRF); (iii) disseminating research findings, including producing sole and co-authored publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals; (iv) contributing to local, national and international academic and professional organisations; (v) undertaking some teaching duties at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, and/or supervision of postgraduate students; and (vi) actively participating in the University community at Department and Faculty levels.  

Applicants should have completed a doctoral degree in a related discipline, have a publication track record commensurate with the level of appointment, and ideally will have held at least one external appointment at postdoctoral level (eg, postdoctoral fellow, assistant professor or similar). Applicants with experience working in interdisciplinary and/or international research contexts are particularly encouraged to apply.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

 

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.  Start-up research grant will be provided. Fringe benefits include contract-end gratuity, leave, medical and dental benefits, and life insurance.
