Job Description:
FEDERAL WORK STUDY POSITION ONLY.
The Harn Museum of Art is recruiting Federal Work Study students to provide museum security and to help provide a welcoming environment for guests.
Part-time position with variable hours including weekdays, weekends, and evenings based on scheduled events at the museum, potentially up to 20 hours per week.
The Federal Work Study Security and Visitor Engagement Assistant, who will be supervised by the Harn Museum of Art Security Supervisor, will have the following responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome guests to the museum.
- Provide excellent customer service and provide general and directional information to guests.
- Perform routine patrol of galleries and public spaces.
- Monitor guest compliance with museum policies and report non-compliance through verbal and written communication.
- Provide front desk coverage on an as-needed basis.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment, chairs, and tables for Harn activities.
- Monitor electronic security systems.
- Assist with maintaining records, including but not limited to the staff/visitor log, property passes and security log.
- Assist with the implementation of an effective control system, inspecting packages and monitoring building access.
- Provide security escorts, as assigned, for maintenance or other activities throughout the museum.
- Reliability, dependability, and adherence to schedules are required.
Advertised Salary:
$11/hour
Minimum Requirements:
Must have Federal Work Study award for Spring 2023.
Must be able to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to deal effectively with individuals.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to answer questions and deal with awkward and stressful situations.
