Manager Strategic Initiatives and Executive Projects

About the Opportunity

The manager provides tactical support for global network strategic initiative unit, working closely with the AVP, Global Network Finance & Operations on priority initiatives and projects. Driving the Northeastern academic plan and global network strategic priorities, the manager will work closely with the AVP to identify, prioritize, and assist with project administration in way we think about our global campus operations and assist with creating dynamic internal and external user experiences for each. The manager leads the management of projects and strategic initiatives, within the Global Network Strategic Initiative unit, and is the support lead for two AVP's (AVP Finance & Operations and the AVP of Global Launch Services). It is imperative that this role effectively manage and prioritize multiple administrative priorities, projects, and goals. The role requires consulting with many offices across the university and plays a key role in the administration and execution leadership projects and priorities. This role is responsible for overseeing the strategic business management for a global unit, work with the AVP of Global network Finance & Operations to align team goals and set new benchmarks for the unit's success.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required. A successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, organizational, and negotiation skills as well as a strong aptitude for problem solving. Must have experience working with stakeholders at all levels across an organization. Excellent briefing skills and highly proficient at analyzing complex problems and presenting thoughtful and clear solutions. Strong customer service skills with the ability to troubleshoot and handle high-pressure situations. Experience supervising staff, strategic planning, and making effective decisions under pressure. Consistent focus on the big picture and the overall operational needs of the college to sustain the growth that is expected over the next five to ten years. High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Excel and Word required. Must possess 5 to 8 years of experience in space planning and operations, preferably in higher education.

Experience working in a complex and fast-moving environment. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work with distributed stakeholders to drive a single strategy.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Strategic Planning & Project Management
  • Global Network Strategic Finance & Operation initiatives: Provide leadership vision and direction for division projects to ensure alignment with the university's strategic objectives.
  • The Director will work closely with the AVP of Global Network Operations & the Campus Operations leadership team on strategic plans, presentations, and implementation. For example, ad-hoc projects such as, but not limited to, developing operating SOP's, align contingency planning, operating hours, etc.
  • Collaborate and provide administrative support for Global Network Operations Leadership team projects directed by the AVP's.
  • Monitor, organize, and improve project tracking systems for the AVP. This includes researching potential initiatives, creating project proposals, vetting individuals, etc. Coordinate meetings including content for all-staff meetings and team retreat(s), as well as holiday and staff recognition team events.
  • Participate committee groups on behalf of the AVP.
  • Scope, plan and execute multiple priority and key initiatives.
  • Administrative and project management support managing the internal divisional staff performance process, review in the creation and change of internal divisional global network and strategic initiative unit fiscal & operational procedures.
  • Serves as lead project administrative manager for AVP, Global Network Fiscal Operations team assisting in planning strategies and analyzing business decisions to achieve divisional goals, milestones, and priorities.


Administrative Project Management
  • Provide high-level administrative support for the two AVP's. Maintain the AVP's busy executive calendar, organize and prepare for meetings, coordinate travel, track and prepare Concur budget reports. Manages high volume of demands on the leaders' time by prioritizing requests while demonstrating significant independent judgment in identifying and resolving potential conflicts. This individual acts as a gatekeeper to the AVP Global Network Finance & Operation.
  • Regularly manages confidential information and exercises discretion in doing so.
  • Communicates with internal and external constituencies on behalf of the AVP Global network Finance & Operations.
  • Performs other duties as required to ensure the smooth operation and responsiveness of the division.
  • On behalf of the AVP, convene meetings and planning sessions with leaders, key stakeholders and partners for review and discussion of unit initiatives.


Identify and Collaborate
  • Collaborate across the vertical to drive change and gain stakeholder alignment. Assist the AVP, Global Network Finance & Operations to develop value propositions, models, and plans for global campus operations (fiscal, space, staffing, etc.).
  • Serve as a valuable strategic resource on action teams spanning disciplines, backgrounds, and ideas.
