Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Events

Position Summary:
New Jersey Institute of Technology, one of the nation's leading public polytechnic universities, invites qualified, highly energetic, and ambitious professionals to apply for the newly-created position of Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Events. Reporting to the Director of Development & Alumni Events, the Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Events is responsible for assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of events organized to support NJIT's constituent engagement efforts and philanthropic fundraising goals.

Essential Functions:
The Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Events will:
- Provide assistance with planning and execution for 40-50 alumni engagement, cultivation and stewardship events per year, ranging in size and scope, both on campus and off campus and including presidential events.
- Assist in ensuring that all advancement events focus appropriately on constituent engagement and fundraising goals and objectives with regard to purpose and outcome, pre-event and follow-up communications, marketing materials, and scripts.
- Oversee, in collaboration with campus partners, all aspects of producing these and other events, including event check list, time lines, room layouts, menu/catering, decor, rentals, venue selection, audio-visual, parking, transportation, and giveaways.
- Develop staffing plans and coordinate volunteers for all events, including, as necessary, handling travel/lodging logistics for special guests, honorees, and performers.
- Provide on-site management of advancement events, which includes those taking place in the evening and on weekends.
- Working under the direction of the Director of Development and Alumni Events and with colleagues in the offices of Development & Alumni Relations and on campus partners, as well as outside vendors, develop print and digital event communications and materials, such as invitations, programs, and post-event correspondence.
- Enter and maintain all events in the Development & Alumni Relations annual master calendar.
- Create and maintain all event records in The Raiser's Edge NXT database.

Additional Functions:
Perform other duties as assigned.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in planning and managing special events, preferably in a higher education setting.
- A commitment to collegiality and collaborative decision-making.
- Strong writing, speaking, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Candidates must also demonstrate an ability: to work both independently and in a team environment; to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving skills; and to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a high-pressure, results-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of, and familiarity with, The Raiser's Edge NXT database a plus.
- Position involves some travel and requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
