PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Serves as senior transactional legal counsel in the Office of the General Counsel. Represents and advises Officers and administrators of the City Colleges of Chicago.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as senior transactional attorney responsible for complex
transactions and prodigious volume of contracts.
- Advise upper level management on legal matters.
- Conduct legal research on local, state and federal laws, and
administrative regulations and procedures.
- Work on unusual or complex legal problems and provide creative
solutions.
- Perform other management and legal related duties as
assigned.
- Adhere to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a Juris Doctor degree, admission to the Illinois
Bar
- At least 6 to 8 years previous transactional experience at a
law firm, government, or in house setting required with, a focus on
contract review, drafting, and negotiation.
- Ability to review, negotiate, and reach consensus on large
volume of complex transactional matters.
- Strong research, legal writing and human relations skills
required.
- Ability to effectively manage a diverse caseload with minimal
supervision.
- Must have ability to reach agreement as to legal provisions of
large volume of contracts.
- Ability to function in a high-level position requiring utmost
confidentiality, discretion, tact, and judgment.
- Proven ability to use computers to perform work
activities.
- Must be self-directed and innovative, able to assess current
operations in an effort to improve the goals of the District. Must
be able to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
