Full Time Assistant Professor of Practice-Track Faculty Position in Nutrition and Dietetics

The Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences (NFSC) at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences (FAFS) of the American University of Beirut (AUB), located in Beirut, Lebanon invites outstanding candidates to apply for a full-time faculty position in Nutrition and Dietetics at the level of Assistant Professor of Practice track. Positions are normally at the assistant professor level but appointments at higher ranks may be considered depending on qualifications. Primary considerations will be an outstanding academic record in the delivery of high-quality, advanced entry-level dietetics education and clinical training, excellent recommendations, and a demonstrated ability in the advancement of scholarship in the field of dietetics.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Nutrition/Dietetics. Minimum 3 years of teaching with significant clinical nutrition/dietetics experience. Credentialed as a registered dietitian nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. The candidate should possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to manage didactic and supervised practice programs aligned with the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) standards, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to teach and develop courses for graduate and undergraduate students and provide experiential teaching and application of dietetics skills. The candidate is also expected to conduct /participate in research studies or projects of relevance to curriculum development and practice improvement in nutrition and dietetics. Moreover, the candidate should participate in academic and professional services.

Applicants should ask the referees to send their letters directly to the office of the Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the above address. The review of applications will start on February 1, 2023, with a starting date of appointment of August 15, 2023.

The NFSC Department was established in 1970 on AUB’s main campus in Beirut and is a leader in nutritional research and education in Lebanon and the region. It houses diverse expertise with research emphasis on food consumption practices, nutritional assessment, food safety, quality of traditional foods, diet-related non-communicable diseases, and associated genetic traits underlying nutrition and obesity-related health problems. At the undergraduate level, the NFSC Dept. offers a BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics, a BSc in Food Science & Management, and a BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics – Coordinated Program. At the graduate level, it offers an MSc in Nutrition, an MSc in Food Technology, an MSc in Food Safety, and an MSc in Public Health Nutrition in collaboration with the Faculty of Health Sciences.
