Job Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs, the Program Manager is responsible for the administration of faculty reviews and other faculty affairs processes related to the Committee on Appointments, Tenure, and Promotion. The Program Manager will also work closely with faculty, department chairs, department administrators, and the Provost and Dean of the College.

Job Description:

  • Coordinate and complete special projects as assigned by the Associate Provost.
  • Manage the administrative preparation of third-year review, tenure, and promotion cases to the Advisory Committee on Appointments, Tenure, and Promotion (ATP) for all tenure-track, tenured, and full-time reviewed and renewable faculty, including guidance to faculty, departmental chairs, and departmental assistants who are responsible for ensuring that dossier materials are prepared on a timely basis and in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Coordinate preparation of additional materials for ATP review, including applications/nominations for Research Scholars, teaching awards, Professional Development Leave, and rotating endowed professorships.
  • Manage all correspondence related to faculty reviews and promotions, including all internal and external correspondence of a highly confidential nature.
  • Key administrative liaison to Columbia University regarding tenure review, including compiling tenure dossiers in compliance with all policies, procedures, and deadlines as outlined in the Columbia tenure review guidelines.
  • Attend all ATP meetings and provide all necessary administrative, logistical, and technological support in a timely fashion and in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintain records on timelines for all tenured faculty, tenure-eligible faculty, and full-time non tenure-eligible reviewed and renewable faculty. Timelines include tracking of faculty reviews, promotions, and reappointments as well as eligibility for sabbatical, research, development, and other leaves of absence.
  • Participate in the process analysis and implementation of systems that will standardize and automate tracking and communication relating to faculty reviews, promotions, leaves and achievements.
  • Lead the maintenance and long term implementation of the system.
  • Coordinate and complete special projects as assigned by the Associate Provost.

Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal, grammar, writing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with faculty, administration, students and the public, to maintain confidentiality when required, and to exercise tact and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently with meticulous attention to detail, to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, to set priorities, and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative and to meet new demands as the job evolves.

Salary Range: $67,000-$72,000
