The basics of this position:

Performs duties necessary to create effective communication campaigns that align and engage internal and external constituents with the College’s vision and strategic direction, specifically the STLCC Transformed initiative. In collaboration with the district communications manager, this position facilitates a strong sense of community through a mixture of internal and external communications, employee engagement and “corporate” responsibility and accountability. Regularly consults with the district communications manager, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, and other members of the College’s leadership team to determine effective internal and external communication campaign strategies.

What you'll do:
  • With the district communications manager, and other stakeholders, manages the development and implementation of STLCC Transformed communications, publicity plan, and campaign.
  • With the district communications manager, conceptualizes, plans, and implements internal and external communication mediums and optimizes their usage to ensure effective and consistent messages throughout the college and region.
  • Develops ideas to drive positive media coverage and secures appropriate media placements that support STLCC Transformed, the yearlong STLCC 60th anniversary observance, faculty, staff and student interest stories, and the College’s strategic goals and institutional reputation (brand).
  • Researches, writes, and edits campaign news releases, advisories, talking points, articles, letters, and newsletters (electronic or print).
  • Sets up and conducts media/press briefings, visits, media tours, and media interviews.
  • Collaborates with district digital strategies manager to maintain and manage the online newsroom with timely content, archived news information, media access and other relevant information.
  • Collaborates with district marketing manager to uphold College brand and graphic design standards.
  • Collaborates with district and campus Marketing and Communications to assure accuracy, consistency, and quality of all communication campaigns in print and online.
  • Produces the Board Digest, staff and student recognition, and other support for the monthly STLCC Board of Trustees meetings.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education, experience, and other requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
  • 7-plus years of progressive responsibility in marketing and communications.
  • A strong portfolio of marketing, communications, and events collateral.
  • Practical knowledge and experience supporting brands and visual identities.
