The School of Social Work, Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, invites applications for a nine-month tenure-eligible faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2023. The School of Social Work offers both an Advanced Generalist MSW degree and a Generalist BSW degree and serves over 370 graduate and undergraduate social work students with 12 full-time faculty positions. Wichita State University is located within the state’s largest metropolitan area with an enrollment of just over 16,000 students. Minimum Education:
MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program.
Ph.D. in social work or related discipline, DSW in social work from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Group for the Advancement of Doctoral Education (GADE) in Social Work. ABD candidates in social work will be considered but must provide documentation of higher conferral prior to start date of employment
Minimum Experience:
Two years of post-MSW, full time practice experience
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Demonstrated potential to conduct research and see and secure grant funding
Demonstrated willingness and ability to use relevant technologies in teaching, research, curriculum development, and instructional design with the willingness to teach across the curriculum
Demonstrated willingness and ability to work with culturally diverse and underrepresented populations as well as a commitment to social justice
Demonstrated willingness and ability to contribute in areas of outreach and service to the department, college, university, profession, and community
Preferred Experience:
Experience teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate level in core Social Work curricular areas including introduction to social work, field practicum, and generalist practice courses
Demonstrated success in scholarly contributions
Experience with applied education and integration of community-based teaching
