Regulated Research Analyst/Asst. Facility Security Officer (FP013A)

ODU is seeking candidates for a Regulated Research Analyst/Asst. Facility Security Officer (full-time, 12 month) position. The Regulated Research Analyst/Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) will directly support the Director of Secure Research & Regulated Activities in the administration of Old Dominion University’s Secure Research program. This includes the ability to review contracts for Controlled Unclassified Information compliance (CUI), export control, foreign national restrictions, proprietary information and fundamental research exclusions, secure lab management, training, insider threat program, faculty/staff travel vetting, visit requests for faculty/staff to secure facilities and other government agencies, and employee account management.

 

Required Education: Master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree with experience equivalent to a master’s degree in related field of study.


Required Qualifications: Demonstrated experience related to research or program/project management in a university or research center environment. Prior experience with classified material handling and storage.

Must be eligible to obtain a SECRET level security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Working knowledge of the policies, practices, and procedures in the following areas: security administration, personnel security program security, clearance adjudication, and database entry.

Demonstrated ability to develop and conduct independent research including opportunity identification, proposal preparation and award management as project manager or principal investigator.

Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making.

Demonstrated ability to adapt policies, procedures, and methods to fit unusual or complex situations.

The judgment to set priorities, evaluates results, and coordinates work with others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrate ability to prepare written correspondence, technical reports, and other pertinent documents as they relate to research.

Demonstrate ability to schedule and set priorities.
