Job Summary

As a member of the SJSU Information Technology team, the Systems Applications Analyst will establish and maintain the Research Foundation’s systems development methodology, lead in the definition of the Research Foundation’s business models in order to support strategic information resources planning and implementation.

The primary responsibilities are to implement, support, and maintain the Research Foundation’s applications including but not limited to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, databases and integrated Fund Accounting System (Financial, Human Resources, Contracts and Grants Management, and Endowment Tracking).

The position will perform the responsibilities of the Application Administrator during his/her absence. Promote and maintain a total quality, service-oriented environment meeting the needs of the Research Foundation, its customers, and clients.



Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for daily operation of the Foundation’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. This involves continuous review and improvement of the computer system to meet user needs.
  • Write OneSolution system reports including Click Drag and Drill reports (CDD), IBM Cognos reports and SQL reports. Understand users’ needs to recommend report formats for users, to help them complete their tasks faster and more efficiently.
  • Write Web forms and Workflow modules to streamline and automate processes.
  • Build and maintain file import/export interfaces for the third-party applications such as the Positive Pay, US Bank P-Card, Worxtime, NOVAtime, and other applications needed by the functional departments.
  • Collaboratively partner with all functional departments to understand the RF’s overall operation needs, and set up enterprise system process switches and calculation codes accordingly. Work with consultants and users on setup, testing and rollout of new applications.
  • Manage, implement and support all functional modules, such as Funding Alerts.
  • Provide on-campus and off-campus users access to the enterprise system, using cloud-based technology. Perform periodic user access review.
  • Debug program problems; work with vendor’s technical support teams to resolve issues.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems including reports, web forms, workflow, troubleshooting, user training
  • Strong working knowledge of Operating Systems, Active Directory, Network, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite and other Office Productivity Technologies
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server, SQL, server, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
  • Ability to apply consultative skills to assess user needs and communicate technology systems and solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and support a wide variety of software applications
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to check data and accurately record information
  • Ability to train others.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly troubleshoot problems, recommending efficient and cost-effective solutions
  • Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication to provide a liaison between users and computer systems environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to use initiative and sound independent judgment within established guidelines
  • Ability to multitask, organize work, set priorities and meet critical deadlines with little suppression
  • Ability to work effectively and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all levels of employees
Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science or business, or equivalent training and applied experience
  • Three years of experience in business applications analysis, design, and programming for medium or large scale, multi-programmed computers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years’ progressively responsible experience in Relational Database Management system (RDBMS) design development, SQL, programming, support, maintenance and training
  • Two years’ experience with Windows Server, SQL, server, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
  • Experience in a university-connected auxiliary organization setting is highly preferred

CSU Salary Range: $4,678/month - $11,547/month
