Job Description:
The College of Dentistry Business Office is seeking applicants for the position of Manager, Operations. This position is responsible for the management of the operational functions of the insurance billing team related to the performance of daily tasks associated with insurance billing and the collection of monies due from third-party payers.
Duties:
- Responsible for the management of the operational functions of the insurance billing team related to the performance of daily tasks associated with insurance billing and collection of monies due from third-party payers.
- Trains and monitors the insurance team to ensure that all claims are correctly billed and collected in a timely manner. Insurance claim follow-up, except for CDBS, OMFS (medical), FMAX (medical).
- Monitors insurance aging report and ensures that college billing staff are following up on outstanding claims. Assist college billing staff with claim resolution as needed.
- Work insurance denials primarily for DMD, RPER, RPRO, ROPR, REND, NCEF and Wildlight clinics. Monitors insurance denials college-wide (dental insurance) and takes action as necessary.
- Identifies and evaluates areas of concern with regard to account aging and/or denials, recognizes patterns and creates a plan of action to resolve operational concerns which may include additional staff training in areas such as axiUm configuration; process/workflow change and communicate with departments as needed.
- When necessary due to workload/office understaffing, serves as backup for each insurance position on the team for various duties such as: submitting all medical and dental EDI claims; batching and printing all paper claims (dental and medical); posting Medicaid dental claims on carrier portals; posting all insurance payments (check, EFT and credit cards) received; and obtaining pre-authorizations for DMD clinics.
- Insurance web portal management: set up/maintain user access for all insurance (Medicaid/commercial)
- Responsible for quarterly evaluations of the insurance billing team. Responsible for approving time for this team and ensuring adequate coverage. Works with the Office Manager to coordinate appropriate scheduling of leave time between the insurance billing team and other employees within the Business Office.
- Serves as backup for the Office Manager.
- Other duties as assigned
Expected Salary:
$50,000 - $55,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Microsoft Office. Insurance claims (CMS 1500 and ADAXXX) submission and follow-up experience. Dental office experience helpful.
