Job Description

Serves as full-time, non-tenured faculty at the College of Nursing. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, providing teaching in the didactic and clinical settings for the undergraduate and/or graduate programs. This position is under the general supervision and direction of the Director of the BSN program at the College of Nursing. The Clinical Assistant Professor will be responsible for the assessment, validation, and evaluation of student learning outcomes in theory, clinical, face-to-face, simulation, and online platforms. This is a 9-month non-tenure track position.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilize creative contemporary teaching methodology to provide classroom, clinical and online instruction.

  • Collaborate with administrators, directors, coordinators, and faculty regarding student learning activities throughout the curriculum. Serves as member of the Faculty Organization and standing committees.

  • Facilitate student-learning opportunities through flexible scheduling of laboratory hours. Attend major education conferences and workshops. Prepare teaching learning enrichment materials to enhance academic and clinical competencies. Implement virtual learning experiences in the simulation laboratories. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrate service through participation in university, college, and community activities in support of program effectiveness (retention, progression, and graduation activities). Maintain security of proprietary information.

  • Participate in supported research activities both externally and internally. Initiate development of policies and procedures for utilization of laboratories.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree in Nursing

Required Licensure:
  • Current unencumbered license or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Texas

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrate evidence of teaching ability and clinical experience in psychiatric/mental health, family health (obstetric/pediatric) or medical surgical nursing.

  • Demonstrate competence in organizational/management skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with faculty and students.
