This position may pay more than the minimum proposed salary listed above, depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.

Prairie View A&M University's (PVAMU) Office for Undergraduate Studies seeks candidates for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level for the new Bachelor's degree program (BS/BA) in Public Health. This individual will take on a leadership role in building capacity in a new program in public health. PVAMU's Public Health program is the first bachelor's degree program offered by an HBCU in Texas.

The Office for Undergraduate Studies (OUS) is a new component of the Academic Leadership Team at PVAMU. The OUS works synergistically with the colleges/school of the university to ensure that all undergraduate degree programs are rigorous, relevant, and responsive to the academic and career goals of the students.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Public Health.

  • Secure research funding, publish research in peer-reviewed journals, present at local and nation/international conferences

  • Work collaboratively with the program coordinator of the Public Health program to design and implement new innovative courses in Public Health and establish partnerships to provide internship and research opportunities for students majoring in public health. Collaborate with the staff of the OUS, Admissions, and Enrollment Management, to strategize the best practices for marketing and recruiting the new public health program.

  • Serve as an academic advisor, provide mentorship to students and student organizations, and serve on internal and external committees.

Required Education & Experience:
  • Ph.D. in Public Health or a DrPH.

  • One year of teaching experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three years of teaching experience in Higher Education.

  • Research experience in biostatistics, epidemiology, health policy and management, social and behavioral sciences, and environmental health sciences.
