Champlain College Online -Subject Matter Experts (remote)



Job Description:

The Champlain College Online division is seeking Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). SMEs develop relevant and engaging content for CCO's adult students who are seeking to better themselves through education. We have immediate openings for candidates to develop and teach courses in:
  • Data Science
  • Software Engineering (UML experience required)
  • Software Development Project Management (professional experience required)
  • Programming - Python, Java
  • Database Administration and Development

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a vision for the course in conjunction with the program director responsible for oversight of the course and its role in CCO programs
  • Complete a Course Design Document (CDD)
  • Develop course content, including but not limited to:
  • Module Overviews
  • Module Learning Outcomes
  • Lectures (written, audio, video, interactive)
  • Assessments (discussions, quizzes/tests, labs, written assignments, projects, etc.)
  • Rubrics
  • Teaching aids, e.g. answer keys, that instructors may use to assess achievement of learning outcomes
  • Select required and supplemental resources (texts, articles, audio and video recordings, etc.)
  • Work with an instructional designer and other CCO staff, such as members of CCO's eLearning team and the operations manager, to bring the course development project to completion according to an agreed upon timeline



Requirements:

  • A master's degree, doctorate, or PhD demonstrating advanced understanding of the topic(s) that will be covered in the course design/development
  • Professional experience - current/past employment, certifications, trainings, published materials, and presentations - demonstrating practical application of concepts, and knowledge of current methods, technologies, and trends in the field(s) related to the course topic(s)
  • Experience with developing courses for and/or instruction of adult learners*

*If a SME does not have experience with adult learners, it is recommended the applicant successfully complete Champlain College Online's (CCO) introductory course for teaching online.
