Description
The University of Mary Hardin Baylor's College of Christian Studies seeks a full-time faculty member in Ministry, beginning in late July of 2023 with initial appointment at the rank of Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Tenure-track position is available with a terminal degree.

UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.

The College of Christian Studies offers three degree programs with a variety of concentrations and minors: Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies, Bachelor of Christian Ministry (five concentrations available), and Bachelor of Transformational Development (in collaboration with UMHB's McLane College of Business). Students in the BA degree program may pursue a minor in the College of Christian Studies or in one of the other colleges at UMHB. Students may also double-major.

UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, an historic town of 22,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.

Faculty Responsibilities:
Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student recruitment and advising; professional attainment; and service to department, college, university, and the community.

Specific Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate courses in Ministry, Old and New Testament, and related areas. The normal teaching load is 12 hours per semester.
Qualifications: Education Qualifications:
For Assistant or Associate Professor initial rank (preferred):
  • Education: a Ph.D. in Religion, a Doctor of Ministry or a closely related terminal degree is required. ABD will be considered. Tenure-track status requires terminal degree in hand.

For Instructor initial rank:
  • Education: A Master's degree in Religion, Ministry or a closely related degree is required.

Other Qualifications:
  • Significant experience in at least one of the following areas is required: Children's ministry, youth ministry, or spiritual formation.
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential.
  • Must be an active and committed Christian.
  • Because of the specific mission of the College of Christian Studies, the candidate must be a Baptist and sustain active membership in a local Baptist church.
