Job Description:

The Department of Chemistry is seeking a Research Administrator I. This position works with the Department of Chemistry faculty, staff, the Division of Sponsored Programs, the Division of Contracts and Grants, as well as the Research Administrator II to provide support with Pre- and Post-Award management of the Department of Chemistry's active grants. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Pre-award duties include working with faculty and their administrative support assistants to ensure successful contract and grant submission in UFirst and corresponding programs. This involves budget preparation, document collection and review, and knowledge of granting policies and procedures, specifically related to NIH and NSF grants. Will also work closely with Chemistry's Associate Chair, the CLAS Dean's office, and the Division of Sponsored Programs as necessary to ensure proper grant submission

Post-award duties include assisting the Research Administrator II in setting up awards in UFirst; adjusting the award budget as necessary; reconciling and approving PCard transactions; requisitioning supplies and large equipment purchases in my UF Market; requesting budget transfers; assisting with project close-out.

Utilizes Enterprise Analytics to complete monthly grant reviews in Excel; reconciles grant transactions to ensure all expenditures are reasonable and allocable to sponsored awards; creates journal entries as necessary to correct any errors; prepares cost transfer forms as needed.

Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor and administration.

Performs queries to check for voucher budget errors.

Fills in for Research Admin II when necessary.

Expected Salary:

The salary range is $19.50 - $21.50 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments, to collect, evaluate and analyze data.

Must be able to work independently, apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and analyze the same.

Must be able to work in a large research-active department with a large number of international faculty and graduate students.
