Job Description

Arizona PBS, a public media station located on Arizona State University’s Downtown Phoenix campus, seeks a dynamic, creative Social Media Manager to grow the station’s flagship social media channels. Under general administrative direction, this position is responsible for overseeing social media efforts and account management for Arizona PBS initiatives and programs.

The manager will create written and visual social media content that aligns with station priorities, build loyal brand awareness and oversee the day-to-day channel management. The ideal candidate deeply understands social media analytics and how paid efforts complement organic strategy across each social media platform.

Day-to-day responsibilities include content strategy and execution, leading community management (i.e. responding to followers), developing and pitching organic and paid social campaigns, and tracking/analyzing data to report on weekly and quarterly performance.

Essential Duties

Set strategy for Arizona PBS’s social media platforms:

  • Identify and implement strategic opportunities to amplify the brand reach and grow audiences across social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok for Arizona PBS, as well as a second Facebook and Twitter for Arizona PBS KIDS)
  • Ensure social media strategy and goals align with the station’s strategic plan.
  • Maintain an editorial content calendar with a consistent posting cadence for each account, while developing brand-aligned content and growing social media audiences.

Analyze results and adjust accordingly:

  • Use analytics and audience research to measure content, campaign and competitor performance. Use analytics platforms, Google Analytics and other tools such as Hootsuite and Databox to track goals/KPIs, mine actionable insights and optimize content accordingly
  • Stay up to date with the ever-evolving social media landscape and adjusts practices to stay relevant with current trends

Create and grow partnerships:

  • Build relationships across the station, the university and out in the community to further our content and engagement goals.
  • Act as subject matter expert on social media topics and trends to ensure best practices are used, and makes recommendations internally for appropriate communication using social media

Collaborate with teammates and student workers:

  • Develop, create and schedule content across our platforms.
  • Create brand toolkits to promote awareness digitally for original shows and content as needed
  • Attend events and produce live social media content

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or related field AND five (5) years of related experience which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience Or, any equivalent combination of experience or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Ability to stimulate changes in individual, institutional and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
