Assistant Director, Student Conduct

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Student Conduct, the Assistant Director plays a vital role in community outreach and engagement. Working to create and promote a high quality, fair and just educational experience through the policies and expectations outlined in the student handbook and experiences lived out each day within the Emerson College community. The Assistant Director will focus on student-centered outreach, proactively engaging with students to educate them on how-to live-in community, navigate conflict, and be accountable for their actions.
This position serves two functions, the first is to develop and implement College-wide trainings and initiatives that address student development (i.e., intra/inter personal development, Academic Integrity, Restorative Practices) the second function includes reviewing, tracking, and managing the residential conduct process.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Provides proactive education/coaching on ethical development, conflict navigation, and other topics, as needed.
  • Serves as a conduct administrator for informal and formal processes, including resolution meetings and administrative hearings
  • Reviews residential resolved student conduct cases, and monitors timely completion of process. Working closely with the Housing and Residential Education team to ensure cases are resolved in an equitable, consistent, and educational manner.
  • Coordinates Conduct Boards and Resolution Panels for other conduct administrators, including scheduling, meeting with students and advisors for pre-hearings, identifying policies, and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Partners with Student Engagement and Leadership to educate student groups and organizations on their rights and responsibilities, conflict navigation, and establishing best practices for new member welcome programs.
  • Under the direction of the Associate Director, assists with recruitment and training for the College Conduct Board.
  • Assists with the creation of student conduct related reports and assessment.
  • Supports and participates in College initiatives such as New Student Orientation, Student Organization Events, and other activities related to student success and the overall student experience.
  • Serve in the Administrator On-Call rotation


QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
  • Bachelor's Degree in social work, education, or related field or experience required.
  • Masters in higher education or student development preferred
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in student affairs, student conduct or related areas


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.
  • Strong knowledge of student conduct and current trends, risks and liabilities associated with student conduct
  • Knowledge of the operations of a residential campus
  • Experience with Maxient, Banner, etc
  • Demonstrated experience working with college students and/or in a college setting.
  • Experience using web-based case management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and in developing inclusive communities and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and delivering trainings, workshops and presentations.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.

COMPENSATION

The hiring salary range for this position is $54,274 - $66,486commensurate with years of relevant experience.

Grade of Position: 23-07E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
