Associate Director, Student Conduct

Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Campus Life, Director of Housing, Residential Education and Conduct, the Associate Director of Student Conduct is an essential leadership position which oversees the day to day operation of the College's community standards and student conduct process. The Associate Director works to create and promote a high quality, fair and just educational experience through the policies and expectations outlined in the student handbook and experiences lived out each day within the Emerson College community. The Associate Director serves as an administrative hearing officer and advises Conduct Boards and Resolution Panels in collaboration with the Assistant Dean. The Associate Director provides supervision to student workers and graduate assistants, and works closely with professional hearing officers in residential education. The Associate Director should approach their work with innovation and be grounded in best practice and current national trends and themes. The Associate Director is key in assisting to develop and implement policies, procedures, and programmatic innovations to create a vibrant, inclusive and welcoming campus community.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Supports the Assistant Dean for Campus Life in the administration of the College's community standards and student conduct system
  • Collaborate with Emerson College Police Department on incident reporting, follow up and review.
  • Provide ongoing support, training, and guidance to resident director staff in reviewing cases and investigation reports, providing feedback, and addressing questions/concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with the Associate Director of Residence Life, Associate Director of Housing Operations and the Director of Student Engagement and Leadership (or designee) to develop and facilitate student conduct training for student groups.
  • Incorporate diverse, inclusive and socially just practices to promote student success as it relates to community standards.
  • Manage and adjudicate caseload of reported Code of Conduct violations, including off campus misconduct and matters of academic dishonesty while ensuring management of all conduct records.
  • Recruit, select, and train Conduct Board members; develop training for faculty and staff Conduct Board members; Provide guidance to all participating parties of a Conduct Board; and administer and facilitate Conduct Boards.
  • Collaborate with Associate Director of Housing Operations around health and safety inspections and any violations found within the Emerson College residence halls.
  • Assist in policy review and changes to The Code of Conduct, and other related department policies, processes and procedures.
  • Work closely with Housing Operations staff on the residence hall welcome desk assistant (security) program
  • Represent their area on the Care, Assistance and Support Team (CAST) and SAFE (threat assessment) team as needed.
  • Supervise the graduate assistant for Student Conduct and assistant director / coordinator for student conduct. Assist the Assistant Dean for Campus Life in management of the student handbook / code of conduct
  • Serve in the Administrator On-Call phone rotation
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
  • Master's degree in student affairs or related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in student affairs, student conduct or related areas

  • Strong knowledge of student conduct and current trends, risks and liabilities associated with student conduct
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with compassion and clarity
  • Commitment to creating an equitable and fair process for all parties participating in the conduct process
  • Knowledge of the operations of a residential campus
  • Experience with Maxient, Banner, etc
  • Previous supervisory experience

COMPENSATION

The hiring range for this position is $68,691 - $84,146, commensurate with years of relevant experience.

Grade of Position: 23-09E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
