Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Office of the Registrar exists to provide support services to students, faculty and staff in their endeavor to fulfill the mission of the University. Responsibilities and activities included in these support services are to the registration and withdrawal of courses, maintain the degree audit system of degree requirements, the evaluation of transfer credits, maintain transient study requests, maintain tuition surcharge, maintain residency, understand and enforce FERPA rules and regulations, certification of enrollment status to outside agencies, transcript services for students and alumni, accurately maintain student records, process and verify student grades, process student applications for graduation, process degree conferral, maintain student biographic/demographic data, and maintain the university course inventory file. The Office of the Registrar is responsible for the integrity of the data on student’s record as well as all other data needed to generate reports from the Student Information System Files.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Graduation Specialist’s primary responsibility involves ensuring students complete degree requirements in order to graduate from UNCW . This involves understanding UNCW coursework and transfer credits, academic eligibility, academic policies, degree requirements, clearance of degree audits, degree exceptions (substitution/waivers), the processes of graduation clearance reporting, participant policies, commencement policies, graduation applications, conferral of degrees, and the ordering of diplomas. This position will assist faculty and students with reading and understanding degree audits to determine requirements remaining for degree completion. Expert knowledge about all processes related to graduation is also required such as: graduation applications, deadlines, walkers, Latin Honors, commencement, and diplomas.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
